A prepaid maintenance plan is not the same thing as an extended warranty. Typically, prepaid maintenance plans in South Africa cover only regular scheduled maintenance as listed in the owner's manual.

Typical maintenance plans cover the following

· Replacement of spark plugs as specified in the vehicle’s service manual
· Replacement of air, oil and fuel filters as per the vehicle’s service manual
· Replacement of lubricants as specified in the vehicle’s service manual
· Replacement of cam belts as per the manufacturers recommendations
· Reasonable cost of labour for all of the above and as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer
